Dr. Ray Kieffer grew up in San Diego, attending elementary school in North County and high school at USDHS. After two years at Palomar Junior College, he transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. He received his bachelor's degree in biology and entered dental school at the University of the Pacific in San Francisco. In 1991, Dr. Kieffer graduated from dental school as a Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then received his orthodontic training at the University of Southern California, where he graduated with a certificate in orthodontics in 1993. He started practicing with his father (who retired in August 2000) in July 1993 and still consults with him on a regular basis.
In practice since 1993, Dr. Kieffer is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, Pacific Coast Society of
Orthodontics, California Dental Association and the San Diego Dental Society. He is also a Board Certified Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics,
a distinction held only by a limited number of orthodontists nationally. The mission of the American Board of Orthodontics is to establish and maintain the
highest standards of clinical excellence in orthodontics. In addition, Dr. Kieffer is a graduate of the Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.
In his free time, Dr. Kieffer enjoys spending time with his wife, Karen, and their four children. He also enjoys surfing, golf and other sports.
